You need to be aware of few wakeboard glossary terms, if not all. Wakeboard is a specialized sport, so are the terms attached to it. If you were not aware of the wakeboard glossary terms then you would face a lot of problem in handling various activities during wakeboarding. Try to get familiar to as many terms as possible as it would help you immensely in communicating during the sports. These terms are used in wakeboarding and without proper knowledge you won't be able to convey the message to someone else. As a result, it would create a lot of problem for you to carry on with the sport.Some of the important terms related to wakeboarding are as follows:
Double-Up:
Sometimes a wakeboard boat circles around and crosses back over the wakes that it creates. This is at about 90 degrees and causes the wakes to converge resulting to double sized wakes. This is called Double-Up. If the timing from the rider is perfect then he will be able to get more air than normal during these situations.
Ballast:
The extra weight added to the wakeboard boat is called ballast. Fitting in fat and heavy sacks or stuffing more people to make the boat heavy enough is called a ballast. It is done to help the boat to cause more wakes. Moreover, there are some boats equipped with ballast systems that are filled with water.
Butt Check: It is a particular position when a rider lets his butt or bottom touch against the water. This is done so that he can remain riding. |
